A few days ago, Nigerian artiste Burna Boy announced via Instagram that he would be adding a New York based stadium concert date to his ‘Love, Damini Stadium Tour’. The tour in question was first announced in November 2022.

With stops in cities such as Arnhem in The Netherlands, London, Roskilde in Denmark, the tour will now also stop in Flushing, New York. This is certainly not the first time that Burna Boy has had an iconic New York show. If it can be remembered, previously in April 2022, the Grammy-winning singer performed a packed out show at New York’s renowned Madison Square Garden. It received good reviews.

One review in particular by the esteemed Rolling Stone magazine described Burna Boy’s two hour set at Madison Square Garden as ‘majestic’. This is proof that the singer who over the years has referred to himself as the ‘African Giant’ has continued to achieve one landmark milestone after another.

Also worth noting is his bigger than life, personal style and his foray into the sector of fashion. It started with a collection for retailer Boohoo then he performed in Rihanna’s Prime Video Savage x Fenty Vol 4 (as released on Amazon in November 2022), a fashion meets music experience, (other artistes included Maxwell). It did not stop there. Later that year, he starred in luxury high fashion brand, Burberry’s holiday season 2022 campaign.

Burna Boy conveys through his fearless personal style (carved by his stylist, his sister Ronami Ogulu) both on and off stage that he is a world class rockstar and interested in luxury high fashion.

As he continues to map a career by his own terms, it is without a doubt that he has played a key role in setting what the bar is when it comes to the careers and goals of music artistes out of Africa.

He will perform his New York stadium date on July 8th. More information here.
