Ozwald Boateng Infuses Ghanaian Heritage Into an Exclusive New Design for Savoir Beds

Legendary British-Ghanaian master tailor Ozwald Boateng has officially extended his design empire beyond the runway, weaving his rich Ghanaian heritage into a groundbreaking collaboration with ultra-luxury sleep architects, Savoir Beds.
Known globally for transforming Savile Row tailoring through colour, craftsmanship and cultural references, Boateng has never treated heritage as a decorative afterthought. Instead, he has consistently positioned identity at the centre of luxury.
The design reflects Ozwald Boateng’s distinctive approach—where tradition and modernity exist in conversation rather than competition. Ghanaian influence appears not as nostalgia, but as refinement. Elements inspired by West African aesthetics, pattern language, texture, and symbolism are elevated through Savoir’s celebrated commitment to artisanal craftsmanship.

At the heart of the collaboration is the aptly named Authenticity bed. The design boasts a sculpted headboard expertly framed in handcrafted solid oak and wrapped in a bespoke woven leather developed alongside Alma. In a beautiful nod to Ozwald Boateng’s roots, the intricate weaving patterns pay homage to traditional Kente cloth—the sacred Ghanaian textile that remains a defining motif across Boateng’s legendary archive.

The base features embossed ‘Tangier Onyx’ leather by Whistler Leather, accented with a black-stained solid oak trim. The reverse of the headboard features a striking green cotton satin—a design choice that playfully mimics the secretive, contrasting interior lining of a bespoke suit.

The Authenticity bed represents the marriage between my creative language and Savoir’s craftsmanship. The sculptural headboard celebrates British craft, with bespoke woven leather inspired by traditional Kente cloth. The design reflects an understanding of the significance of the bed, given how much of our lives we spend in it.
