In Commemoration of its 15th anniversary, Orange Culture unveils “Letter to Her” – a deeply personal collection by creative director Adebayo Oke-Lawal, dedicated to his late mother. The collection stands as a love letter, a tribute to a woman whose grace, faith and strength left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

“Letter to Her” is an act of remembrance and release – honoring a beautiful life lived fully, even through years of quiet struggle.

When my mum passed last year after battling cancer, I found myself deleting every hospital photo. I didn’t want to remember her in pain – only in joy. Now when I dream of her, I imagine in heaven, dancing with the angels.

This vision of her heavenly light forms the heart of the collection – expressed through an all-white palette and shades of ivory, cream and pearl. The garments reimagine presence in different moments of her life.

  • The cape dress, symbolizing her wedding day – a memory of beginnings and beauty.
  • Reimagined suiting, inspired by her years as a judge, reflecting strength and intellect.
  • Bandage-like pieces, echoing her illness and the resilience within vulnerability
  • Sheer fabrics, a nod to her transparency and vulnerability through the years; she gave her heart.
  • Patchwork motifs, reminiscent of the countless prayers she wrote for her children – pages of devotion sewn into form.

Every silhouette carries a memory, each stitch a whisper of love. The accessories extend this storytelling: bags inspired by her shekere – she loved to dance and praise.
