Founder and creative director Florentina Agu describes the JOY collection as a “love letter to Nigerian women who show up, dress up, and create light amid scarcity. ” The collection brims with intentional vibrance. Unveiled via a striking lookbook and accompanying social media campaign on May 30, 2025, it presents 20 outstanding pieces infused with positivity and bold expression.

Offering insight into the collection’s purpose, Hertunba notes:

In a world filled with uncertainty, where chaos often tries to dim our light, Hertunba’s Joy is a collection that dares to choose joy. It is not performative or passive—it is a reclamation. Joy, in this story, is loud. It is color, it is laughter, it is softness carved out in defiance of the hard.

Highlighting fabrics like Akwete and vintage Aso Oke, “JOY” seamlessly weaves traditional craftsmanship into modern silhouettes — flowing maxis, playful minis, statement kaftans, and elegant co‑ords. The lookbook, set against rustic backdrops, reveals models beaming in pieces that embody joy, agency, and cultural pride.

The collection’s bold palette, featuring tangerine orange, leafy green, fuchsia, and midnight blue, pays homage to women’s enduring spirit and inner light.

Some standout designs from JOY include the Aku Kaftan, Tere Off‑Shoulder Maxi, Oma Reversible Dress, Lara Halter Maxi, Jade Set, Aduke Knit Dress, Chi Layered Mini Dress & Multicoloured Layered Kaftan and more — each bursting with colour and timeless form.

In launching JOY, Hertunba delivers more than a fashion line — it’s an emotional uplift, a cultural reclamation, and a beacon of optimism in a world often overshadowed by uncertainty. Each garment stands as a celebration of resilience, beauty, and the everyday brilliance of Nigerian women. It’s a reminder that fashion can be both purposeful and powerful, bringing joy, identity, and connection stitch by stitch.
