In a captivating display of timeless elegance and modern couture, Nigerian designer Victor Anate introduced his much-anticipated collection, N°8 (Lady Keith), in London on Sunday in the Basement at The London EDITION. The presentation not only celebrated Victor’s artistry but also posed a provocative question: How does one define the timeless, and can we ever capture the eternal? These themes were woven throughout the collection, which pays homage to the spirit of the inimitable Slim Keith, a socialite whose streamlined and tailored style has become a hallmark of classic sophistication.
Inspired by the ethos of lasting style that can transcend generations, VICNATE’s N°8 collection reimagines couture as an “eternal vibe,” balancing lightness and elegance in designs that appeal to both present and future wearers.
I wanted to explore the fifty-year wearing timeline, one most likely involving three generations of women, having pieces that will serve each wearer amidst the stylistic waves of each decade
Through this vision, he sought to channel a couture spirit that resonates with each passing era yet remains relevant and fresh.
Slim Keith’s philosophy—“I’m a great believer in the simplicity of clothes”—echoed in the silhouettes that graced the runway. A true designer, Victor designs with the “patrician woman about town” in mind, blending the classic with the contemporary. His pieces feature lightweight blouses, precision-tailored trousers, and versatile gowns that move gracefully, each embodying a sense of self-assured elegance and lineage. “We live in the tropics, a place that is so beautiful, close to the sea, ravishing really, but also hot and intense,” Victor remarked, capturing the duality of strength and ease that his designs evoke.
The collection, which draws visual inspiration from the symbol of infinity, represents VICNATE’s “quest for ‘forever-wear’”—pieces that can be cherished by women with discerning tastes and a sense of generational pride. Each garment in the N°8 line is crafted for the woman who moves through life with assured confidence, capturing her individuality and timeless appeal.
The event’s ambiance was elevated by candle partner Diptyque Paris, which scented the venue with captivating fragrances, while Krone offered a luxurious selection of champagne to toast the occasion. And the artistry was brought to life by the talented hairstylist Charlotte Mensah, whose contributions added to the event’s allure. Guests were immersed in an experience that combined artistry, elegance, and sophistication.
