Twenty-three-year-old Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa contestant, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, representing Taraba State.
Adetshina clinched the coveted crown at the grand finale of the beauty pageant held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday night, among 25 contestants who were gunning for the crown, earning a grand prize of N10 million.
The 23-year-old beauty queen, who recently made headlines for her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant due to a controversy over her Nigerian heritage, proved to be a fan favorite throughout the competition after accruing the highest number of votes.
Following the evening gown segment, where each contestant displayed their elegance, the top five finalists were revealed: Miss Taraba, Chidimma Adetshina; Miss Anambra, Paula Ezendu; Miss Edo, Edeifo Brittany; Miss Ondo, Ayegbidun Peace Olamide; and Miss Rivers, Nyekachi Douglas.
The top three winners were then announced: Miss Ondo was crowned Miss Lush, Miss Anambra was named the first runner-up and Miss Supranational, while Chidimma Adetshina emerged as the overall winner.
Ugochi Mitchel Ukachukwu, now married and formerly Miss Universe Nigeria 2023, crowned her successor, Chidimma Adetshina.
Adetshina, a strong advocate for inclusion, previously shared,
As a woman who has faced adversity, I want to use my voice and the Miss Universe Nigeria platform to promote inclusion and acceptance and educate people on the power of diversity to build a strong community that benefits everyone.
As the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, scheduled for November 16, in Mexico.
