Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is the cover star for Teen Vogue’s Africa’s New Wave edition. The magazine features Ayra Starr alongside fellow Nigerian artists BNXN (also known as Buju) and Victony.
Our Africa’s New Wave package celebrates the rich culture and impact of the globe’s demographically youngest continent. Through a series of visual stories, we’re unpacking the gravity of Africa’s history and influence on the world and why it needs to be looked to as a source of inspiration for radical youth-focused change.

The Teen Vogue Africa’s New Wave edition celebrates the “next generation of African talent who are breaking boundaries and making waves around the world.” Ayra Starr, BNXN, and Victony are all part of this new wave of African artists who are bringing their own unique sound to the world.
The magazine features interviews with the three artists, as well as photoshoots and fashion spreads. Ayra Starr is featured in a number of stunning looks, including a Fruche asymmetric raffia dress, a pink bralette paired with an asymmetrical cotton brocade ruffle skirt and matching gloves and metallic bra halter top paired with green pants. Bnxn and Victony are also featured in a number of looks including a Lisa Folawiyo set, Polo Avenue Lagos shoes, suits and pants, Swarovski jewelry, etc.
