South African fashion just got a whole lot more glamorous! Renowned designer Thebe Magugu has unveiled his highly anticipated flagship store, aptly named Magugu House, in the upscale Johannesburg suburb of Dunkeld. This isn’t just a retail space; it’s a multi-functional destination poised to become a hub for fashion, art, and creativity.

Stepping into Magugu House is like entering a world of colour and elegance. The ground floor boasts a captivating atmosphere, with a blend of signature pistachio and terracotta hues creating a warm and inviting space. Here, you’ll find a curated selection of Magugu’s latest collections, including his much-talked-about collaboration with Valentino for U.S. Vogue. But Magugu House offers more than just the chance to snag coveted pieces.

I have always loved the idea of pouring all my collections, installations, events & projects into one space, and Magugu House becomes exactly that – an institution solidifying our universe. I started Thebe Magugu as an afro-encycopaedic look at key histories and heritage from the continent; with collections named after university subjects as a closer study. In that regard, Magugu House becomes the first campus.

Magugu envisions the store as a platform that extends beyond just selling clothes. The space features a showroom, fitting rooms, a reception area, and even art galleries showcasing Magugu’s latest collections. There’s a dedicated space for the brand’s signature items, like the book tote designed for Dior. This focus on showcasing the artistry behind the clothing elevates the shopping experience and allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the Magugu brand aesthetic.
