Meet Jonilar: Ghana’s Trailblazing Travel Storyteller and Cultural Ambassador
Jonilar is changing the narrative when it comes to travel content creation with his unique style of storytelling.
Born Jonathan Nii Laryea from Nungua in the Greater Accra region, Jonilar has gradually become many people’s favourite travel content creator for the authenticity of his content, focus on lesser-known destinations, small businesses, short but relevant conversations and above all the quality of his videos.
Jonilar focuses on lesser-known travel destinations, cultures, initiatives, events, and conversations that are aimed at improving the travel and tourism business in Ghana.
In 2023, his works at the Chalewote Street Arts Festival, Ghana’s biggest street art event earned recognition in mainstream media, his content during the African Cup of Nations in Côte D’Ivore has also earned his accolades for the quality videos produced at the Accra edition of the African games. Jonilar is also the Head of Production for “Street Jamboree” a music and culture festival organised in the summer since 2022 at Juapong. In 2023, the event was named the most competitive event in Ghana after Easter celebrations in Kwahu.
Jonilar also works with brands to create promotional materials in the form of short documentaries, photographs, and sketches.
According to Jonilar, he’s traveling Ghana to tell the Ghanaian story his own way to the world using his mobile phone. He’s also aimed to travel the world to bridge the gap between Ghana and other countries.
For the past years, Jonilar has been known prominently in the music business circle as an artiste manager, event producer, brand consultancy, and founder of Jonilar.net a platform known for the promotion, and marketing of music and brands in the entertainment space. Jonilar.net is also known for organising Digital Music Education Seminar which provides a platform for creatives to learn and connect with fellow creatives and exciting opportunities.
