Chekwas Okafor 26, is a Nigerian fashion designer resident in Upstate New York. He received a BS in Biology at Voorhees College, a historical black college and university (HBCU) in South Carolina.

Mr. Okafor had the passion for fashion when his friend introduced him to work with upcoming Nigerian designers. This initiative inspired him to introduce his African luxury fashion e- commerce website, ONYCHEK which he aims at making luxury fashion very accessible to the world.

He later explained that ONYCHEK was a name originated by his dad’s company which imported textiles from China to Nigeria.

The website launched in September 2016 have achieved its aim of introducing African customary and accessories for men and women solely by African designers in the likes of Kenya’s Adele Dejak and South African MaXhosa by Laduma.

Chekwas aims to expand his offerings to work the leading designers in Africa like Deola Sagoe and Lisa Folawiyo.

In the next five years, he hopes of becoming the world’s most compelling destination for made in Africa luxury fashion through ONYCHEK.
