Ghana Music Awards – Now A Festival

ACCRA, GHANA — Beginning from this year, the Ghana Music Awards ceremony will be repackaged and presented as major event that will project and promote Ghana, her culture and music to the rest of the world, the organizers of Ghana Music Awards (GMA) event have hinted.

“Building on the initiative which was broached last year, the 2006 event will run as a festival with various activities and concerts featuring major Ghanaian and African artistes. The event will span over a period of eight days”, the Event Director, Mrs. Theresa Ayoade stated.

Second Yaa Asantewaa Festival Launched

KUMASI, GHANA — The second edition of the Yaa Asantewaa Festival was on Thursday launched at a ceremony at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.

The festival, which will be held from August 1- 5, is in recognition of the heroic achievements of Nana Yaa Asantewaa, the Queen of Ejisu, who led an army of 20,000 to resist attempts by the British Army to capture the Golden Stool in 1900.
